When you go to the Customization section in the Fether app and click the Verify button, you may encounter the error message:
“Error, check settings again.”
This message indicates that the app is unable to confirm proper integration with your store. Below are the most common reasons why this happens and how you can resolve the issue.
Reason 1: The App Block Has Not Been Added to Your Theme
In order for Fether to function correctly, the app block must be added to your store’s Theme Editor.
If the app block has not yet been added:
Click the “Learn more” link displayed in the Customization section.
Follow the step-by-step instructions to add the Fether app block to your theme.
Once the app block has been added, return to the Customization section and click Verify again.
Reason 2: Your Store Is Using a 1.0 (Vintage) Theme
Another possible reason for this error is that your store is using a Shopify 1.0 (Vintage) theme, which is not supported by the Fether app.
Due to Shopify’s discontinued write_theme permission, we are unable to support non–Online Store 2.0 themes. Additionally, as a partner with the Built for Shopify badge, we must comply with Shopify’s Theme App Extension guidelines. These guidelines prevent us from manually inserting code into themes and ensure that no leftover code remains after an app is uninstalled.
Because of these limitations, Fether can only be used with Online Store 2.0 themes.
We recommend upgrading to a 2.0 theme to ensure full compatibility and access to all Fether features.
