Does Fether support 1.0 (Vintage) Shopify theme?

At the moment, Fether does not support Shopify 1.0 (Vintage) themes. This limitation is due to several technical and platform requirements that prevent the app from functioning properly on older theme versions.

Why 1.0 Themes Are Not Supported

1. Shopify Permissions
   Shopify no longer provides the write_theme permission that was previously available for older themes. Without this permission, Fether cannot safely add the necessary app code to 1.0 themes.

2. Theme App Extension Requirement
   As a partner with the Built for Shopify badge, Fether must comply with Shopify’s Theme App Extension guidelines. These guidelines prevent apps from manually inserting code into a merchant’s theme to ensure that no residual code remains after uninstallation. Unfortunately, this means 1.0 themes cannot fully support Fether’s features.

Recommendation

To use Fether seamlessly and access all its features, we recommend upgrading your store to an Online Store 2.0 theme. Online Store 2.0 themes are fully compatible with Theme App Extensions, providing a safer and more flexible integration.
